Bernie Smith is responsible for corporate development and shares the firm’s business development and marketing responsibilities.

Smith has over 25 years of financial management and development experience. Smith developed the ProMatura Group Snapshot, a popular first look at a senior housing demand in a given market and has conducted many market assessment and feasibility projects.

Smith has conducted approximately 400 market feasibility studies of senior housing projects throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. His studies have been accepted by: The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), United States Department of Agriculture, Cain Brothers Investment, Love Funding, BankOne and Branch Bank and Trust (BB&T), and others.

Smith is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and has published several articles about the seniors housing industry. He has served as a marketing judge for the National Seniors Housing Council’s “Best of Seniors Housing Awards”.

Before joining ProMatura, Smith founded Bernie Smith & Associates, a financial management and real estate development company where he was responsible for the daily operations of the firm.

Smith received an undergraduate degree in banking and finance and did graduate work in economics at the University of Mississippi.
